Leaves, Food family, Grandness, Rough Comps, and a New Job!?!!!

Well it's a new week! :) I've been truly busy this last week. Here is a look at some of the things I've been doing.

Illustration 4: Plein Air Painting Class. We went up to South Fork Canyon and painted the beautiful leaves this last Friday. My fingers might have frozen off, and it was super windy but I did get to watch Richard Hull paint and that was awesome. As you can tell I am still learning. I haven't quite caught on to the entire concept yet, but I'm still getting closer.

A couple of Sundays past: Church doodles. This is the food family. :)

The Grand Canyon: I worked on the shadows on the left side of my painting today. Fours hours later and one step closer to being finished. I'm thinking I might just pull an all nighter in the HFAC and finish it off.
Senior Illustration Studio 1: We are now working on myths. I've decided to create an illustration based on the American Indian legend of Cinderella. These are some of my thumbnails and my very rough comp. I need to get that reworked and some color studies done, but that can be a project for tomorrow.
I got a new job! Hooray! (I'm not going to be doing snow removal all winter,  in the middle of the night.) I applied for a job at the Riverwoods doing graphic design for the Provo Beach Resort, and they hired me! I'm going to be doing any sort of graphic design that they need from signs to posters. SO today I quickly did for a promotion for Ike's. I'm excited to have a new job and to be working with something art related.

Beauty and the Beast: For Digital Illustration 2 we all have to do our own take on theme Beauty and The Beast. These are my very rough thumbnails. I'm thinking that I really like the abominable Snowman and his little ski girl friend on the a very tipped ski lift idea... Look for more development on that idea maybe next week.

As you can see, life as an Illustration major at BYU is crazy busy! I have so many art projects and things to do it's, well crazy. Good thing I love it. :)

Studying the landscape and color roughs

These little landscape studies are for my illustration 4 class (which is plein air painting). We have been going out every Friday to paint the Provo landscapes. In between classes we've been painting master study landscapes. It's been a lot of fun. Here is a preview of a few of my little master copy studies.

This is for a project that I'm working on in Senior Studio 1.  The theme is buffet. yum. I decdied to take it to a Hawaiian side of things and explore a child's view of a too tall buffet table. She can't quite reach what she wants off the table. The black and white sketch is my rough value sketch.  (I added another palm tree to the left side in the final) and the small paintings below that are color studies to decide which direction I wanted to take the color. It's quite the process. I'm working on the final piece right now and will post it when I am finished.
