Christmas Tag! Free printable on design website. :)

So the time has come that I feel like I can finally post about the freelance project I've been working on. I posted a few weeks back a preview of what I've been doing but now the final project been posted on the website! Check out Design Dazzle, featuring the Christmas label from Santa ! It's awesome. It took me a lot more time than I thought it would to sketch, paint, and edit it in Photoshop. Pleasing the client was extremely important with this one and it took work, but I did it!

Check it out on the website, please download it, use it! and tell everyone I created it! (unfortunately I didn't put my name on it anywhere... and she didn't credit me on the website, so I'm doing a little self promoting here on my blog!)

For those of you that don't want to view it on the website, I will post it here on my blog so that you can see what the final product looks like. :)

Feeling like a mummy?

We only have a week and a half left of classes at BYU... I'm starting to feel like a mummy.  Getting ready to wrap up all of my final projects. ;) If I can make it to the end and not become a mummy myself I think it'll be a miracle. Meanwhile, Here is a Halloween project I completed back at the end of October but just added some finishing touches to today. I'm debating whether or not to add a spider to the right of his head in the empty space. He's kinda freaky looking, but he has a lot of great texture too him.

The moral of this post is: Don't get wrapped in finals or Christmas shopping or whatever else is taking in all of your time. Be productive but also sit back and enjoy a little bit of life each day, even if it is only for 10 minutes. :)

The Grand Canyon is FINISHED!

Well friends, the Grand Canyon is finally complete!!!! :D HOORAH! I think it's time to celebrate. Anyways, my desk is so empty now, I have room to draw and paint again, and I can see my neighbors across from me again!

I think the finished painting turned out well. The contrasting colors of purples and blues were fun to paint. There were so many details that I probably could have spent years on this painting, but I didn't have years. It's finished and I'm happy.

Happy Christmas... uh I mean Thanksgiving.

Within the last 2 weeks of my Illustration 4 class, we have moved from linear perspective drawings to value perspective drawings. I laid out the basic shapes of what I wanted in my environment and then put a wash of acrylic over the top. After that I added the light and dark contrast with black and white colored pencil.  I had fun with this assignment. This is the finished product:
Merry Chrismas! A little early. :)

Christmas Project Preview

So currently I've been working on a Christmas project for a freelance job. Here is a sneak peak at some of the details and the first painting I created without the changes I made to the final in photoshop. The final piece turned out way cute.  I will post the final next Monday. This week I have been working on an elf label for the same project which will I post sometime next week.

Provo Beach Resort, layout MAPS!

So lately for work, I have been focusing on redoing Provo Beach Resort's layout maps. They have been quite fun to do because I've had the freedom to take them in whatever direction I wanted (within reasonable means.) They were quite ugly before.

Here is a before:
And here is what they look like now:

This is what they will look like together on the new card! :) I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

Perspective

Illustration 4

So my assignment in Illustration 4 this week was to draw an environment with correct perspective. I've been taught how to draw using perspective in the past but this was a good reminder. The second part of the assignment was to relate our drawings back to our BFA projects. So... this is a German farm house that my ancestors might have lived in back in the day. It's a guess as to what it really might have looked like but a better approximation will come with more research. I'll tell you more about about my plans for my BFA project in a future post. :) Thanks for looking!
